Now is the time to buy your Christmas & New Year Travel Insurance

You might already wrapped those presents for the festive season and not even gone out shopping  yet, but there is something that you should not leave to the last minute - Travel insurance and Car rental hire excess insurance.

Once you have started your holiday you can't take out travel insurance normally, so it is best to make arrangements early on.
A great way of saving money is to take an annual travel insurance policy and you can do the same with car hire excess insurance.

Quite often an annual car hire excess insurance policy will be a lot cheaper than paying for daily policies and of course far cheaper than having to buy one through one of those car hire companies that tries to make you buy one when you book your car hire or when you collect the vehicle.

These days people tend to take several breaks over the year and even a weekend away in Poland or Portugal should be covered so annual travel insurance does make sense and of course many people will soon be off on a skiing holiday as well.

Reasons why you should take out travel insurance:

  • Missed departure?
  • Lost your passport?
  • Personal money stolen?
  • Damaged your ski equipment?
  • Personal Accident?
  • Abandon your holiday before you leave the UK
  • Catastrophe — fire, flood, earthquake or storm
  • Medical Emergency — Hospital — Emergency Dental Treatment
  • Legal Advice
  • Mugging

  • At the jml Insurance website there are several insurance companies advertising their products including:

Financial Failure Travel Insurance Cover - Protect My Holiday

In the current economic climate, being able to purchase financial failure protection is imperative.

Some Travel Insurers incorporate this as part of their overall policy wording, but in the main most don’t offer this cover.

It is important to remember that the civil aviation authorities ATOL scheme only applies if a flight plus another component part of the trip are part of the same booking. You can check if your trip is ATOL protected as you should receive a certificate which shows the name of the firm and their ATOL number. You can also check them on the ATOL register.

As most people make their travel arrangements independently, there is no government protection against the financial failure of Airlines or other end suppliers you are booking with. Imagine being on holiday, to find the airline you have booked with has failed and you have no means of repatriation other than to try and rebook a return ticket with an alternative flight provider.

The cost of a ticket in these circumstances can be up to three times more than the original ticket price. You could also find yourself in this position a few days before you are due to travel, and would then have to hastily try and find another provider, but again the cost will be far more than the original price paid.  You can purchase cover against this eventuality from a specialist Insurer offering stand-alone policies from as little as £5.00 per person travelling.

Please click on the following link for full details of this. Cover can be paid for online and the policy documents are then emailed back to you instantly.
