Intasure is appointed by BIBA as Holiday Homes scheme provider

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has launched its first ever holiday home scheme in partnership with specialist provider Intasure, part of the Arthur J. Gallagher group, offering members the ability to quote and bind cover for properties in more than 40 countries ,with legal expenses insurance included at no additional charge.

Further benefits of the scheme include a UK-based claims team, English-speaking loss adjusters, and cover for owners of private use second residences as well as those that are let out on a short or long-term basis in the UK and overseas.

Backed by Lloyd’s syndicates and A-rated insurer capacity, the holiday home scheme enables BIBA members to secure public liability of £5million and buildings cover of £1million as standard. Cover can be transacted via a bespoke online platform, providing reassurance of immediate cover, and the scheme carries no minimum volume requirements.

Mark Morgan, Managing Director of Intasure, said: “With around 1.7 million Britons owning a second home, whether in the UK or overseas, demand for holiday home cover continues to be strong. And yet finding flexible and comprehensive protection for such valuable assets — particularly when properties are often unoccupied and especially when they are located overseas — can be problematic. Our ability to protect homes in 44 countries gives us an unmatched footprint and enables BIBA brokers to provide their customers with much-needed peace of mind.”

He added: “We also place a strong emphasis on the customer journey — and our high levels of delegated authority enable us to respond and resolve problems promptly when they arise, with 90% of claims handled in-house through our UK-based support team.”

Mike Hallam, BIBA’s Head of Technical Services, said: “We are pleased to offer this scheme along with its exclusive benefits to members and its wide footprint of countries that it covers.  This should satisfy all member needs in this niche market sector.”
